There is hereby created a civil service commission, consisting of three members who shall be appointed by the mayor to exercise the powers and perform the duties established by this chapter and by state law as set forth in Chapter 41.08 and 41.12 RCW in connection with the classification, selection, and certification of qualified candidates for appointment and promotion; and to hear appeals, all relating to employees of the fire department and police department. No more than two alternate commissioners shall be appointed to the civil service commission by the mayor. The commissioners shall serve without compensation; provided, however, that they may be reimbursed for expenses incurred in service as a commissioner. (Ord. 2876 § 1, 2012)
