A. In addition to the pet limitations outlined in AMC 6.04.060, any person, due to unforeseen or emergency circumstances, may temporarily shelter a total of two additional dogs or cats in any combination of cats and/or dogs for up to six months. Such animals shall be disclosed to the animal control officer and licensed as any other animal covered under this chapter.

B. Properly licensed commercial kennels, catteries, hobby kennels, animal shelters, and veterinary clinics and foster homes are exempt from the limits of Section 6.04.060.

C. Any pet owner who, in 2015, properly licensed more dogs than are allowed under Section 6.04.060 AMC, may keep those dogs that were licensed in 2015, provided they properly license the dogs each year thereafter. Any pet owner who, in 2015, had more cats than are allowed under Section 6.04.060 AMC, may keep those cats upon providing to the animal control officer a statement from the cats' regularly treating veterinarian proving possession in 2015. That owner shall not further exceed the limit listed above and, after the passing of those animals properly licensed or kept in 2015, this exception will expire. (Ord. 2955 Att. A, 2015)
