To the extent possible, the city will attempt to match its investments with anticipated cash flow requirements. Unless matched to a specific cash flow, the city will not directly invest in securities maturing more than five years from the date of purchase.

Maturity guidelines:

Reserve or capital improvement project monies may be invested in securities exceeding five years if the maturity of such investments is made to coincide as nearly as practical with the expected use of the funds, not to exceed ten years from the date of purchase. Investment of the principal portion of endowment funds may also exceed five years not to exceed ten years. (Ord. 2937 § 1, 2014)
