The purposes of this street tree advisory committee are:

A. To protect existing downtown street trees and provide for new downtown street trees by regulating their planting, maintenance, removal and replacement.

B. To protect existing downtown infrastructure by ensuring that new and replacement street trees are selected and planted to avoid conflicts with overhead wires, buildings, signs, sidewalks, curbs, underground utilities, etc.

C. To provide to the city, as well as to citizens of the city, news and information regarding the selection, planting and maintenance of trees within the city, whether on public or private property, and to make such recommendations from time to time to the city council as to desirable legislation concerning the tree programs and activities for the city.

D. To provide regular and special meetings at which the subject of trees within the city may be discussed by members of the committee, officers and personnel of the city and all others interested in the tree program.

E. To perform such other functions as may be directed by the council or may from time to time be authorized by ordinance. (Ord. 2565 § 2, 2001)
