The parks and recreation advisory commission shall consist of five members appointed by the mayor with the approval of the city council. The term of five of the commissioner positions shall be for a period of five years. All commissioners presently holding office shall continue to hold office until the expiration of their terms under their previous appointment. Members shall meet not less than once each month and may adopt such rules of procedure as are necessary to accomplish the duties described for the parks and recreation advisory commission. Each year the commission shall elect from its membership a chairperson and a vice-chairperson and appoint such advisory commissions and committees as it deems advisable.
