It shall be the duty of the city attorney to prosecute all suits for the recovery of fines and penalties which may be brought in any court, and also to institute and defend all suits which may be brought in any court by or against the city, or any of its officers, on account of any of their official acts. He or she shall cause executions to be issued on judgments which may be recovered, and attend to their prompt collection. All money which may be received by him or her on account of the city shall be paid into the city treasury. (Ord. 3 Article II § 1, 1891)
