Article IV. Non-Emergency IFT Ambulance Service

A. All emergency ALS/BLS ambulance service is and shall be provided within the city limits by the fire department only in accordance with the provisions of this chapter, except as otherwise provided in Section 13.54.290 herein and the interlocal agreement.

B. The city hereby declares that commercial ambulance service is not readily available. Accordingly, pursuant to Chapters 35.23 and 39.34 RCW and the interlocal agreement, all non-emergency IFT ambulance service is and shall be provided within the city limits by Island Hospital. Such non-emergency IFT ambulance service shall not be operated as a public utility of the city pursuant to RCW 35.21.766. The provisions of this article shall apply to the ambulance of any person that enters the city on a regular basis to pick up patients in the city.

C. Nothing herein shall prohibit the fire department from providing non-emergency IFT ambulance service if the city chooses to do so. (Ord. 2877 § 1, 2012)
