Each patient who utilizes the emergency ALS/BLS ambulance service shall be billed by the city in accordance with the ambulance service fees immediately after the ambulance service is rendered. The finance director shall establish a procedure to bill and collect ambulance service fees for the ambulance services rendered. Under the procedure, the city may elect to bill the patient directly or the patient’s insurance company and if the patient’s insurance does not cover all of the cost of the ambulance service the city may choose to bill the remaining balance to the patient directly. The city may contract with a public or private entity to bill and collect the ambulance service fees. (Ord. 2877 § 1, 2012)
